[daip] LWPLA Abort

Hi,

I'm getting a signal 6 abort when LWPLA writes to an existing file. I'm 
wondering if this might be related to the recent problem I reported 
whereby writing clean boxes to file also caused an abort.

I'm running 31DEC16 on an Intel Mac (Yosemite). 31DEC15 shows the 
expected behaviour whereby the new image is appended.
