If you use QIMVAL on each plane before trying IMEAN and SAD on that
plane, it will return ERROR=1 when the area around the specified pixel
is all blanked.  Assuming that you have not blanked any pixels (other
than whole flagged planes), you can then have an IF statement in
your procedure (IF (error=-1) then; go imean; go sad; end).
