I have put the fix(es) into the system, tomorrow's MNJ will update things.

The odd dependence on GAIN is explained since the issue only arose 
when the  DFT and gridded methods were very similar in timing.  If
the primary-beam code thought DFT but the bottom level stuff thought
gridded, a mismatch arose.  I have  defended against the mismatch and
also changed things so a mismatch should not arise.  A GAIN change,
changes the numbers of components and so affects the relative
timing estimates.
