I hope it has stopped by now.  If not do a CTRL-S and then
from another window do a ps -elf | grep SERCH and
then do a kill -9 <process-number>.

Yes SERCH is geared for multi-channel, multi-pixel signals.

IMSTAT will tell you the peak pixel in the cube cheaply..
