Curious - the output should have 404036 vis in subarray 2.
My fingers itch to look at these data.  You could run PRTUV 
starting at vis 517700 say in the output file and see what you get.

Another thing to try is to run DBCON with the 2 files in the other order.
That should not matter but you are mixing format versions here (see
rand axes list) and that might matter.

I will try tests here.
