I was trying to use IMAGRPRM(1) within IMAGR in order to carry out some wide-field wide-band cleaning and into account the induced spectral index caused by the primary beam. However there appears to be a problem in that IMAGR fails silently seemingly after a major cleaning cycle. Thinking that it may be a memory error I increased the dynamic allocation to the maximum 12GB using SETMAXAP, but alas it had no effect. No matter what I set the NITER to it fails at some iteration near the maximum. I have tried mining the forums but the closest error ticket I can find is EYB-963273, which isn’t quite the same. I am using version DEC14 of AIPS.

Can you provide a bit more information? What array have you used? What
value for IMAGRPRM(1) and FQTOL? What messages appear just before and
including the failure point? The IMHEADER of the UV data and the IMAGR
work file would also be useful. Are you doing multiple facets, multiple
scales?
