[daip] /aips/FITS: can we delete it?

That is always a problem - it is the $FITS that is known and useful for 
writing out files for copying to somewhere else.  You can remove it 
which will cause issues for the user but aips has many ways to let the 
user write to any other directory for which he/she has write privilege.
Alternatively, one could make a 2-week rule (or some such) with a cron 
that deletes all files older than that.  Another thing would be to make
/aips/FITS a link file to some other place with more available space 
perhaps also with the 2-week or whatever rule.
