Sorry about stating the obvious - you would not believe how many people 
do not reboot despite the instructions.

Did you type "sysctl kern.sysv" in a terminal or xterm window. Look for 
the kern.sysv.shm* values - what are they and what are the contents of 
your /etc/sysctl file?
