New Staff Reply: Renaming sources

I don't know what you mean too long for AIPS.  The source
name adverb is 16 characters long which I suspect is the
limit in the source table itself.  What is true is that 
SPLIT will truncate the names to 12 characters in the file
name and to 8 characters in the header source name.

The verb TABPUT allows you to change any value in a table
which you might want.  Use PRTAB on the source table to
select column number and row number.  The subscript is 1
and set KEYSTR with the desired new source name.
