Susan,

   I think you're misremembering, the P band data has 1024 channels:

ASDMList: info 20121009T054629 ASDMList Begins, svn ver. 428M
ASDMList: info    20121009T054629 Date/Time: 2012-10-09  05:46:29
Summary of ASDM in /lustre/fowen/TSUB0001.sb11188347.eb11264203.56135.03471128472
  Configuration Summary
Observed 2012-07-27, Array = EVLA, Observer = Frazer Owen
Configurations

  Configuration  0, no. SpWin = 1
     SpWin=  0 Freq=   0.054 GHz, 16128 chan of BW=    1.984 kHz, tot BW=  32.000 MHz, USB Band=EVLA_4
  Configuration  1, no. SpWin = 4
     SpWin=  1 Freq=   0.024 GHz, 512 chan of BW=  125.000 kHz, tot BW=  64.000 MHz, USB Band=EVLA_4
     SpWin=  2 Freq=   0.152 GHz, 1024 chan of BW=  125.000 kHz, tot BW= 128.000 MHz, USB Band=EVLA_4
     SpWin=  3 Freq=   0.280 GHz, 1024 chan of BW=  125.000 kHz, tot BW= 128.000 MHz, USB Band=EVLA_4
     SpWin=  4 Freq=   0.408 GHz, 1024 chan of BW=  125.000 kHz, tot BW= 128.000 MHz, USB Band=EVLA_4

   To get the first spectral window of configuration 1, specify 512
channels and for 2-4, 1024 channels. All of the low band data I've
seen looks like this. This data read fine when I tried it.

   ASDMList (BDFLIST in AIPSIsh) is useful for cracking the ASDM.
