New Staff Reply: HI Imaging with Multiple Spectral Windows in AIPS

VBGLU looks through each data set and finds matching baselines/times.
Due to flagging, there may be time/baseline samples in one that are
not in the other. VBGLU honors this by making a sample with one IF
flagged and the other present - which is why the total number of samples
is modestly higher in the output than in either of the inputs. VBGLU
goes to enormous trouble to process all tables with IF-dependent columns
including FG tables and merges everything.

NOIFS must have applied the combined flags - so you end up with a number
of visibilities that is an exact match in the two routes you tested. In
the case where you applied the FG tables before VBGLU, it is clear that
one data set is missing some samples that are present in the 2nd but not
other way around.

Actually I am rather pleased with how this all came out
