Your analysis of this message is correct - it is now simply reporting that
the first IF is outside the extreme limits for X band.

Some of your grief might be saved if you had obit running on your Linux
box.  That installation is easy - http://www.cv.nrao.edu/~bcotton will
give all details.  AIPS can then run "verb" BDF2AIPS which invokes an obit 
program to translate the SDM/BDF into aips.  Actually Drew can also do
that for you if you ask.  This has several benefits - NX, CL, and especially
SY tables.
