Amy,

My Mac is a and runs Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Darwin 10.8.0).  Its a 2 GHz Intel Core i7, 64bit.

No there is no .Xsession file.

Yes, it is black and yellow.  It does seem as though the yellow replaces the white.  

The output from AIPS on opening is:
