You are in the aipsuser group (just type "groups nelias" on the command
line on any AOC machine).  

As Eric said, use "aips notv" on the casa node to avoid all sorts of
grief from the startup scripts. 

My testing on that node was able to start up aips in "notv" mode with no
problems.  The permissions on the files in $DA00 seem fine (but maybe
Eric already fixed them by the time I checked?).
