New Staff Reply: Improving the Performance of AIPS

I am going to close this old ticket.

If you can install the OBIT package of software from
bcotton at nrao.edu, recent changes (still being made) in AIPS
will provide access to his Imager task.  It will go threaded
at whatever level your machine will support and will provide
a great many options and techniques somewhat different from
those in AIPS IMAGR, SCIMG, etc.
