AIPS++ ??  That product is called CASA at present.  If you are actually 
dealing with that product, please contact the CASA "desk" at help.nrao.edu.

AIPS - the much older but still actively maintained package will ask for 
a password for user number 1.  All other user numbers (positive integers 
< 36 cubed) have no password.  On your own computer, use any number > 1 
- many users separate projects by the user number.
