The error message that matters appears to be "xterm command not found"
which means that your default $PATH does not contain the command "xterm"
For the message server you may use any of many kinds of windows - type
HELP MSGSRV inside aips. The TEK server requires an xterm since only
xterms contain an emulation of a TekTronix graphics display. Fixing
your default $PATH would be the best solution - all Linux machines come
with xterm software I believe.
As for the TV (XAS) you have shown nothing to suggest that it is not
working. It comes up in iconified form - look for it. Try the command
inside aips TVINIT. What does it say? If nothing, then the TV is
present and working.
