New Ticket: Polarization calibration

I have a question related to the BLCAL task (in AIPS) in calibration of

POLARIMETRIC observations in which VLA-EVLA baselines are present.

I have already reduced my VLA D data at 1.4 GHz in the standard way with

the BLCAL task to calibrate VLA-EVLA baselines as it was recommended before in

Guideline. However, recently I have found in this
Guideline the following
WARNING : If you are doing polarization
 calibration and imaging, do not
run this step as it will cause a mis-match
 in the parallel-hands and cross-hands
that can break PCAL and polarization
 imaging.

In refer to this warning, do you recommend to recalibrate all the data but

without BLCAL? I haven't seen any problems with the PCAL after

the BLCAL and the orientations of polarization vectors from different

data sets (days of observations) are compatible for my target galaxy.

Is there a way to check somehow if recalibration is indeed necessary?
