It depends a great deal on what you want to do.

Read the AIPS CookBook - you have copies locally in the 
$AIPS_ROOT/TEXT/PUBL area in files by chapter COOKn.PS where n is the 
chapter.  The first 3 provide some introduction.  Chapter 4 is about 
calibration of uv data, 5 about imaging calibrated uv data, and 6 about 
all the display operations.
