[daip] problem with tape drive

Following the reinstallation of aips after a disk crash, I have been
unable to get my local tape drive working again and unable to identify the
problem. Can you suggest what I might be overlooking?

The drive is there and works outside of aips:

AIPS 1: AIPS tapes on COHO
AIPS 1: Tape Device name Description
AIPS 1: ----------------------------------------------------------------
AIPS 1: 1. /dev/nst0 DAT160
AIPS 1: 2. (remote) REMOTE TAPE

However, there is only one TPMON process:

AIPS 1: AIPS processes on coho 01-FEB-2010 at 12:21:51
lmatthew 7759 0.0 0.0 5232 2508 pts/1 S 11:47 0:00 TPMON1
lmatthew 10263 0.0 0.0 15812 3808 pts/1 S+ 12:19 0:00 AIPS1

So if I try a mount, I get the complaint:

>go mount
AIPS 1: A REMOTE COMPUTER MUST BE SPECIFIED
AIPS 1: TAPE PROBLEM

I have tried running STAR_TPSERVERS to no avail:
[aips at coho ~]$ ./START_TPSERVERS -d
STARTPMON: [COHO] verbose comments enabled
STARTPMON: [COHO] need 1 daemons...
STARTPMON: [COHO] 1 daemons alive
STARTPMON: [COHO] LINUX/TPMON1 is a valid link to TPMON.EXE
STARTPMON: [COHO] TPMON1 is already running

Thanks,
Lynn Matthews
