New Ticket: Compiler for text installation

I have code to use within AIPS and need to do a text installation.
GCC versions up to 4.5.0 are available. Which of these more recent compilers would you recommend I use to perform the installation? I have a 64 bit linux box running RedHat Enterprise Linux Desktop Workstation 5.5.
