This error suggests that you have an incomplete file.
Look at the number of bytes on disk - it must be exactly an integer 
times 2880.  Did you say binary when you ftp'ed the file?  Did the file 
you tried to copy have the same size as the file you got?

There have been problems with CASA not finishing the exportuvfits process.
