Hello,
I was trying to contact Ketan Desai the OMFIT task author but his email address at
NRAO seemed not valid any longer. I wish you can help me to find the one who is
maintaining this task at NRAO.
My problem is:
I have a problem with your OMFIT task in AIPS. I compiled the 31DEC08
version on my Intel dual-core laptop from source code. My OS is Debian
lenny and the gcc/gfortran version is 4.3.2. It turned out that the
OMFIT task got stuck every time like in a dead loop. There is no output
in message terminal. I also installed the pre-compiled binary version
and the OMFIT task bahaves the same. Then I tried to "debug" OMFIT
programme and I found that when I added a line "print *, 'magic line!'"
at the line No. 21217 just before the "WHILE(C.EQ.A)LOOP" line, then
compiled and ran it, it began to show the output in the message terminal
window and finished successfully after about 25 minutes.
Have you got similar feedback from others. This behaviour looks weird to
me since the excessive line "print*" actually should have no affect on
the Fortran programme itself. I have other installed copies on a Mac OS
laptop and Fedora desktop and the OMFIT behaves normal. I can now only
guess the compiler is "weird" for some reason. I hope you can enlighten
me and point the direction I should look for. Cheers!
Regards,
Ming
