Let me suggest a solution that will solve the current problem and
some that I expect will arise when we get past this one.

Use the attached HOSTS.LIST

Edit $AIPS_ROOT/LOGIN.SH and $AIPS_ROOT/LOGIN.CSH in the line that
sets the logical LAPTOP - change the NO to YES

I suspect that your current data area is in the directory
    $AIPS_ROOT/DATA
and named
XIELAPTOP_1

Change that name to LOCALHOST_1

Note that you can create soft link files in this area to point anywhere 
on your system, for example

ln -s LOCALHOST_2  /home/xie2/AIPS/data2/

and then enter these in $AIPS_ROOT/DA00/DADEVS.LIST.  Also in the DA00 area
there is probably a directory XIELAPTOP - change that name also to 
LOCALHOST.

Then things may be better with install -n.
