[daip] AIPS error problems

Hello,
I¹m relatively new to using AIPS on my MAC OSX laptop  (I am not new to
AIPS).

I¹m getting this error within AIPS whenever I try to look at inputs to a
TASK or verb, or say GO TASK:

>inp tvall
AIPS 1: ZDIR: COULD NOT TRANSLATE LOGICAL =
AIPS 1: ZDIR: WISEMAN
AIPS 1: ZTXMAT ERROR =      2


>go fitld
AIPS 1: ZDIR: COULD NOT TRANSLATE LOGICAL =
AIPS 1: ZDIR: WISEMAN
AIPS 1: ZTXMAT ERROR =      2

Am I missing something simple here?
It finds my catalog and lists it just fine (mc, uc).  It also displays
things on the TV okay (TVALL).

All I did to go into aips was to say
Prompt> source LOGIN.CSH
And then 
Prompt> aips

And it enters into AIPS without any error messages, starts the TV and msg
server, etc.

Any idea what I²m doing wrong?
