[daip] New Mac Pro and AIPS

I just installed AIPS on my new 8-core 3.2GHz (RAM 16GB; 4TB disks)  
and ran a test reduction of the GOODS-N UV data.

On the G5 (2-cpu's), it took 9.6hr (on one cpu) to run 1/8 the UV data  
and the test run on the Mac Pro with 3 other IMAGR's running took  
2.3hr (on one cpu). So, the Mac Pro is 4x faster than the old G5.

Not too bad.
