[daip] radio telescope sensitivity

Hello,
 I was wondering how radio astronomers minimise the amount of earth singnal interference the telescopes detect and also do you think a telescope will be built that totally eliminates earth signal interference? 
Also if I built a radio telescope myself would I achieve good results and detect good signals?
