Hi Amy

Thanks for the suggestion. In fact, they have permissions like,

rsf at pueo2:/home/tools/aips$ ls -laF DATA
total 16
drwxrw-rw- 4 rsf users 4096 2006-08-27 21:05 ./
drwxr-xr-x 9 rsf users 4096 2006-09-01 21:06 ../
drwxrw-rw- 2 rsf users 4096 2006-08-27 20:54 LOCALHOST_1/
drwxrw-rw- 2 rsf users 4096 2006-09-01 06:03 PUEO2_1/

I still cannot start AIPS having the messages of
rsf at pueo2:/home/tools/aips$ aips notv tpok
START_AIPS: Your initial AIPS printer is the
START_AIPS: - system name , AIPS type

START_AIPS: User data area assignments:
(Using global default file /home/tools/aips/DA00/DADEVS.LIST for DADEVS.PL)
                  /home/tools/astronomy/aips/DATA/LOCALHOST_1 is currently unavailable.

START_AIPS: Cannot start AIPS because there are no defined data areas!
START_AIPS: (check DADEVS.LIST or .dadevs files, or AIPSASSN.\*)

So I am wondering something was wrong in my instllation. Could you please check the error
message I sent last night ?

Best regards and Ciao
Ray

p.s. I will be away from my office until Sep.15.
