Dear Amy,

If you are running AIPS on a local machine you don't really need an AIPS 
number for us.  Just pick a positive number other than 1 (which is the 
managers number and requires a password) that does not conflict with 
anyone at your institution.   NRAO assigns AIPS numbers to people who 
will be using NRAO machines so that there is no conflict.  If you will 
be running AIPS on NRAO machines, e-mail grhodes at nrao.edu and she will 
assign you one.
