The update to a new version is simple - see our web pages for how to
do it http://www.aoc.nrao.edu/aips/

The data will not need to be changed at all.  It will work fine just
as it sits.

When you updated your computer it is clear that you changed something
so that X windows does not work as it did.  If the display gets set to
simply :0 and it still does not work then there is a very deep problem
indeed.
