Dear Eric,
I am a M.Phil Student at the Auckland University of Technology in New
Zealand researching VLBI Array & Aperture Synthesis Modeling in
collaboration with Swinburne, Australia. We are a new small team and
currently with little to no in-house expertise (I am it) with software
such as AIPS, so I am learning it the hard way (trial and error on my
own :'( ).
http://www.aut.ac.nz/about/faculties/design_and_creative_technologies/research/centre_for_radiophysics_and_space_research/links.htm
Currently I am trying to get acquainted with aips and most specifically
UVCON. I am fighting a loosing battle at the moment, there isn't a
"UVCON for dummies" ?
I load in the image from:
http://www.oso.chalmers.se/~jconway/ALMA/IMAGES/ , I have used M501V2.
I can view the image using "TVLOD" no problem. It is in my AIPS
catalogue "MCAT" as seq 47.
I call up task "uvcon" and modify the param's: See uvcon.txt
Then lets try "go". It seems' to be happy with my antenna input file but
is not happy with the image.
Its a real descriptive error :-( like all things aips: see
attached uvcon.msg
UVCON1: ERROR 5 FINDING TEST . . 47 DISK= 1 USID= 2
UVCON1: ZCREAT: INVALID BYTE REQUEST = -67108859
UVCON1: SCREAT: DISK 1 ERROR 4 ON SCRATCH CREATE
UVCON1: SCREAT: FAILED TO CREATE REQUESTED SCRATCH FILE
UVCON1: ERROR 5 CREATING SCRATCH FILE
UVCON1: Purports to die of UNNATURAL causes
If I go:
aips > getn 47
aips > tvlod
Then up pops the image in the tv window
aips> mcat
AIPS 1: 47 2 TEST .IMAG . 2 MA 13-MAY-2006 21:01:47
So I am stumped at the moment. I have tried "playing" but to no avail
currently. I'll keep plugging away and if you have any ideas or hints
they would be very gratefully received.
Thanks in advance
