The shared memory note is about XAS and if the screen comes up
you do not have that problem.
The speed is odd - Macs of that level are usually about 130
AIPSMarks which is not slow.

This says that the lock daemon task did not start correctly. I
would need to see the messages that come when you start aips. Perhaps
you have not created the needed system services - see the aips manager
FAQ page. If that is the case this would also explain the message
server problem.
