     The connection should be available for ping - are you sure you do
not have firewalls stopping you from reaching the outside world?

     Just MAKE.MNJ.

BTW - The binary installation should produce load modules that run
faster under Linux and Mac OS/X rather than compiling locally.  The
latter does work and, for Solaris, is the same as using a Sun compiler
locally.
