Odd, I wonder what is with Scientific Linux 3 that it should not
include this very standard symbol.

If you want to keep trying to compile AIPS, change _POSIX_PATH_MAX to
256 in $APLUNIX/ZACTV9.C and then restart install.pl.

You might prefer to use the binary install.  The upside of that is
that the tasks run faster on all machines especially Pentium IVs.  The
downside is that AIPS is build with a non-local compiler (Intel) and
so local code development becomes problematical,  To do the binary
iunstall, enter

      perl install.pl -n

where the -n tells it to do binary.
