[daip] install problems

 	Hello,
 	I am trying to install AIPS on my laptop (TURION, Mandriva-64 
2006), as expected from documentation, it failed (the loader refuses 
explicitly my version of libncurses, although it is the uptodate standard 
one:
libncurses.so.5.4

 	Then I fall back to the standard installation as advise and
while installing the old g77 I got the following ( I anticipated that):
./configure
x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu: machine unknown...

Returning in the past is often a bad idea with LINUX.

What do you suggest to do for the Nancay Radio Telescope pipeline on
which I am currently working (although i is sunday)?
