[daip] AIPS installation

Hi,

I installed AIPS ( 31DEC06)  on my laptop which is running on linux
(UBUNTU 6.06)  through the install script. i opted for a binary
installation and it seems to have installed properly. however, upon
running AIPS, i find that the only window spawned is the TV. no
messages window or anything. i did make the post installation changes
in my system as suggested ( the ports in /etc/services). sometime back
when i used AIPS through a tarball installation on a different linux
distribution, the other windows did spawn. so i am not able to make
out whether the problem now is with the distribution or because of the
binary installation...
let me know if there's any information about the system i need to
provide to diagnose the problem.
