The algorithm in IMEAN is fragile - it will fail if the histogram used does not have fine enough intervals at the correct center value (usually close to 0). The "robust" algorithm used by RMSD is just that - more robust. I have sometimes wondered if IMEAN shouldn't use it - except that would mean re-reading large images (cubes too) quite a number of times. Eric Greisen
