This concept is mostly from the time when 100's of users visited NRAO
and used our 3 VAX computers. We had to tell the users apart and
so assigned them numbers. This concept continues today on our public
machines.

On your desktop, however, that only you will use, any positive number
(but 1) will do. In fact most users use multiple numbers to separate
their projects.

1 is reserved for the aips manager and has privileges and has by
default a password (AMANAGER). There is an upper limit 36**3 - 1 but
it is best to use smaller numbers than that.
