What version of Linux are you using?

We have run into an oddity with the message and tek servers.  They are
run as a program inside an xterm.  At some sites this seems to require

     xterm -e MSSRVn &

while at others it requires

     xterm -e ' MSSRVn ' &

You could try copying $SYSUNIX/XASERCERS and UNIXSERVERS to
$SYSLOCAL.  Locate the lines with sleep in them with the editor and
change the 
     ' ./MSSRVn ; sleep 3 '
getting rid of the quotes and the ; sleep 3.

See if that works.
