Take a look at the ~/.ssh directories for both accounts.  The password
business is coming up when attempting the connection via ssh to
itself.  It may demand a password if these ~/.ssh directories are not
set up correctly - i.e.have group or world write privilege on the
directory, or any privilege other than owner rw on the authorized keys
files.
