I do not know why I did not think of this sooner.

Do an IMHEAD on your UV data set.
Example

AIPS 1: Image=MULTI     (UV)         Filename=19840117    .L BAND.   1

AIPS 1:            SOURCE  FREQSEL

Note that SOURCE is the 6th random parameter

KEYW='PTYPE6'; KEYSTR = 'JUNK'; puthead

(Your data set may have source in some other position - use that
number instead of 6.)

should remove your problem with things thinking it is multi-source
