[daip] AIPS with Solaris 9

Hello,

I am trying to install AIPS 31Dec05 on our Solaris 9 system here at Mt. 
Stromlo Observatory, ANU. I have added the required INET sockets to 
/etc/services as described on www.aoc.nrao.edu/aips/install.

The package seems to compile and build fine, but on launching aips on 
the local workstation, after the XAS server loads, there is a 
continually repeated message "select error - AipsSocket". This happens 
for the commands "aips" and "aips tv=local" and even "aips 
tv=miniskirt:miniskirt", where miniskirt is the local machine.

BUT on a remote machine (say named mindy), from a ssh or rlogin to 
miniskirt, "aips" or "aips tv=mindy:mindy" works with no socket error.

The compile and build commands (from SUL/INSTALL/INSTEP2.LOG and 
Y/SERVERS/XAS/Makefile) are:

/opt/SUNWspro/bin/f77 -c -fns -fsimple=1 -xarch=v8plusa -xlibmopt -dalign
-ansi -u -ansi -u -O3

/opt/SUNWspro/bin/cc -I$(OPENWINHOME)/include -L$(OPENWINHOME)/lib 
-D_BSD -DUSE_SHM -c

"/opt/SUNWspro/bin/cc -V" gives :
WorkShop Compilers 4.2 30 Oct 1996 C 4.2
and "/opt/SUNWspro/bin/f77" gives :
WorkShop Compilers 4.2 20 Dec 1999 FORTRAN 77 4.2 patch 104529-15

I should mention that AIPS 31Dec05 compiled on our linux box okay and 
without this socket error (gcc and g77 version 3.4.2 20041017 (Red Hat 
3.4.2-6.fc3).

Any help will be much appreciated.
