Pat had set a variable in her .tcshrc file to specify AIPS TV being
"buffered" (I forget what that means).  I commented it out of her
.tcshrc file - and left a note saying to log out and log back in.  I
tested it in her existing window by resetting that variable locally.

Pat - where did the hair brained notion to use that come from?
And did it come just about when you started having trouble?
