[daip] backups of "sgindex"

Hi, a hopefully quick question!

During reduction one often uses the save pseudoverb, i.e.
save <randomname> to save the AIPS environment and
e.g. sgindex to list all saved environments.

When backing up all data to disk, is there any way to write
such save files to disk such that they can be read out later?
Or is it possible to store the aips files directly and later
insert it into the data area of another computer/user and
fool AIPS into using them?
cheers,
Neil.
