Hi Amy,

APCAL worked OK for a couple of days but as of today is failing
again (even with the same files it worked on a couple of days ago).
So I suspect there must have been some change that introduced a new
bug? There seem to be two different failure modes. The one I have
gotten most often (for BP089 B, C, and D) is a crash during the plotting
of the opacity solution, as follows.
quasar> APCAL1: Writing SN table 2
quasar> APCAL1: BR RCP 0/21h 1m Trec (K): 65.17 Zen. opac.: =
0.182
quasar> APCAL1: BR LCP 0/21h 1m Trec (K): 64.01 Zen. opac.: =
0.178
quasar> APCAL1: FD RCP 0/21h 1m Trec (K): 63.11 Zen. opac.: =
0.192
quasar> APCAL1: FD LCP 0/21h 1m Trec (K): 69.65 Zen. opac.: =
0.198
quasar> APCAL1: Waiting 30 seconds:
quasar> APCAL1: Hit TV button A to pause indefinitely. Hit button
quasar> APCAL1: B or C to continue sooner, button D to stop plotting
quasar> APCAL1: Continuing
quasar> APCAL1: HN RCP 0/21h 1m Trec (K): 129.66 Zen. opac.: =
0.188
quasar> APCAL1: HN LCP 0/21h 1m Trec (K): 65.17 Zen. opac.: =
0.470
quasar> APCAL1: PLAXES: ERROR SCALING UNITS OF X-AXIS
quasar> APCAL1: PLOTOP: ERROR 1 RETURNED BY PLAXES
quasar> APCAL1: OPACOR: ERROR 5 RETURNED BY PLOTOP
quasar> APCAL1: Purports to die of UNNATURAL causes
quasar> APCAL1: quasar1 31DEC03 TST: Cpu=3D 1.0 Real=3D =
19

For BP089A I get a different type of failure when it gets to the one
non-VLBA telescope in the experiment (Y), even though I have DOFIT for
that telescope set to zero:
quasar> APCAL1: Continuing
quasar> APCAL1: SC RCP 1/ 6h 1m Trec (K): 57.97 Zen. opac.: =
0.138
quasar> APCAL1: SC LCP 1/ 6h 1m Trec (K): 60.67 Zen. opac.: =
0.149
quasar> APCAL1: ZABORS: signal 11 received
quasar> APCAL1: ABORT!

A couple of days ago APCAL was working fine on the files for BP089A and =
B, so
I'm guessing something has changed again? Please let me know,

Glenn Piner

Hi Glen,

I have found the bug in APCAL. If you are on the midnight
job it should be fixed tomorrow. BTW, my comment about the
WX table stands. You need to either reload your data with
FITLD or use the external weather table.

Cheers,

Amy
