[daip] Polarizations?

Hi Andreas,

I've looked at your schedules for BB142D & K and it looks like
you observe only L for the first and last hour and observe
R&L for the intervening hours. Is that right? Also the
schedule says Polarization=ON, so it looks like for both exp.
the middle bit was correlated with the polarization on. Did
you load the polarization and non-polarization sections
separately?

Anyway, assuming you did. It looks like what the correlator
labeled RR and LL is good data, the RL and LR is garbage, since
it will be Ls of different frequencies correlated together.
I've done some experimenting and there isn't a way to get a
single dataset with all the labels correct. You can get 2
separate datasets with correct labeling, but as far as I can
tell you can't put them together (DBCON expects the frequencies
to be the same). Since the TY and PC tables have data in them
as if you had RR and LL data, I would do the amplitude and
instrumental phase corrections first. Then use SPLAT applying
these calibrations and the FG table to copy out the LL and RR
into different files. Then you can use either TABED or TBIN/TBOUT
to edit the FQ tables and make them correct. If you want the
RR to be LL you can run FXPOL with BANDPOL 'LLLL'. I would then
probably run UVFIX to recalculate the UVW for the new frequencies.
Then you end up with 2 datasets correctly labeled, but separate.

Does that help?

Cheers,

Amy
