[daip] Problems with 31DEC03 UVCON

Sean,

1.UVCON has a pointing error simulation only if CMODEL='COMP' and CMETHOD='DFT.
If it is not true then UVCON forces CMODEL='COMP' and CMETHOD='DFT.
Pointing error simulation works if one of BPARM(3,4,5) greater than zero.
You do not print out for me BPARM(3,4,5) terminating at BPARM(2).
I guess you have one of BPARM(3,4,5) greater than zero.
  Try UVCON with BPARM=-1,0

2.I see you use BPARM(2)=-1. BPARM(2) is atmosphere noise at zenith in degrees
There is no sence in atmosphere noise at zenith =-1

3.You use CMODEL='IMAGE' and CMETHOD=''. It is better to use CMETHOD='GRID'
  with CMODEL='IMAGE'.

The item 2,3 are carelessness which should be corrected, but do not
explain the problem

The item 1 is important

Leonia

Leonia,

I have recently installed the 31DEC03 version of AIPS. However, I seem
to run into some problems which
seem rather fundamental. I include both the output from AIPS and the
inputs for UVCON. Note that
even though I specify I am using an IMAG file for input, it seems that
the program still goes off looking
for CC's. And why is it asking about the frequency axis - the frequency
information of interest is included
in the APARM inputs?

I suspect I am screwing up somewhere given that I know UVCON is used
extensively for array studies for the EVLA and ALMA. However, I note
that the same files and UVCON inputs run fine under 31DEC01
