Your X WINDOWS is installed with the usual Linux default - 16bit
TrueColor.  This is inadequate to do science and so is not supported
by XAS - if I supported it, no one would change to better scheme that
are readily available.

See the AIPS Manager FAQ page from  http://www.aoc.nrao.edu/aips
for some suggestions.  Just change the number of bits to 24 from 16.
