[daip] aips commands not recognized

Dear friends

One of our users at LAEFF cannot use aips since yesterday.
I wonder whether you have any ideas about what the problem
might be.

Following is a transcript of her session:

No command is accepted.
Other aips numbers do not have this problem.
This user could be assigned a different number, but
she needs to access the data already on disk, or she
would have lost several weeks of work.

Aips version is 31DEC01, OS is LINUX.
