The first shows a system that is more advanced than on my new machine
- it is not RedHat 6.2 at all. It is 7.2 or even 7.3.

Fortunately, you seem to be using the last usable compiler. But I
have now debugged the problem.

We compile all our programs under RedHat 6.2 with 2.95.3. If I build
aips.exe on that system with or w/o debug and run it locally, then it
works. If I link edit aips on my RedHat 7.2 machine with the
libraries computed by the older machine, then it fails. A data
structure seems to have changed in the system libraries that are
included.

I suspect that you have to rebuild all of aips (INSTEP2 and INSTEP4)
although the first thing to try is

      COMRPL $APLUNIX/ZTXMA2
      COMLNK $AIPPGM/AIPS

and try things.
